Dear Ato Derege :

The story is very old. My father P.C.Menon, was a teacher in Harar, Dire Dawa and finally he taught in Addis Ababa Junior Com. College. He served the Education Dept from 1963 to 1985 (22 years). He also used to teach part-time (Politial Science & Economics) at University and also at Harar Military Academy. Most of his stay, say for about 15 years, he was in Harar & Dire Dawa. Only for about 7-8 yrs he was at Addis.
I remember Bulto Uncle as a small boy when he used to come to our house for coaching classes or sometimes for his Higher Education practice exams as he was Daddy's student at the Univiersity or Military Academy. (I exactly dn't remember) I have always seen him in Uniform only and used to be very jolly and jovial with us kids (WE are 4 - myself + my three younger sisters). Daddy used to announce that Bulto Uncle is coming home in the evening - and we all used to wait eagerly for his arrival. Both his pockets used to be full of choclates. One or two of his military colleagues also used to attend. It has been long, long time - almost 40 years ago. My father left Ethiopia for good in 1985 and since then we do not have any direct links except through some of Daddy's Indian friends. Bot my parents are no more now. I am 51 yrs old now. I was working in Dubai for almost 15 years and since then returned to India and currently in Mumbai. Two of my sisters are still continuing in Dubai. All of us are married and have grown up kids now. Whenever we talk of Ethiopia, Uncle's name used to crop up.
I do not know about Unlcle's professional work - it did not matter for us. It is nice to know a book has ben written by you and released. It is realy nice of you and I and my family join you in this moment of joy. I was surfing the net when I suddenly came across Uncle's name in Google. Pls convey my best regards to yr Mummy and other family members.
With profound regards / Rajan Menon
