Dear Mr. Derege,
I have to tell a very old story. My father, P.C. Menon, who was from India, was teacher & also parttime Professor with the Ethiopian Ministry of Education & also University teaching Economic & Political Science for abt 22 years from 1963 to 1985. (He was in Harar, Dire Dwa and finally in Addis) Demissie Bulto Uncle was his student and Demissie Uncle sometimes used to come to our house in Dire Dawa for his coaching or practice exams for his Higher Studies. The story is almost 40 odd years old - I was a small boy. I am 51 now. Uncle was a young officer at that time. I have seen Uncle in his Uniform only and whenever he came home, his 2 pockets would be filled with choclates for us. He used to play with us (Me & my 3 younger sisters). Even as a young officer he was brave & dashing. I still remember, once in our house one robber/miscreant had entered and quite accidently Uncle also came at the same time.. When we told him about this guy, he literally 'broke' the guy's bones.
All os us are married and settled and have grown up kids now. I am currently in my home country, India, now. Both my parents are no more. Ages have passed by but even now when we see somebody in 'Military Uniform' we still say that he resemebles 'our Demissie Uncle'. I came across Uncle's name through Google
while surfing the net.
Let God bless you and yr family.
Prfound Regards / Rajan Menon

Derege,
I am so proud of you. You have done well! The book was well written & easy to read. I dare to say Gen Demissie was way ahead of his time or happen to be born in the wrong continent. His leadership and his unshakable bravery reminds me Moshe Dayan. please never mind those airheads and their negative comments. They are just advertising their ignorant.
Bravo Deri
