I real admire the book which will help to clue for the next generation. 1981 coup d’état would have bring inspiration our nation and would have avert the current situation.

Dear Mr. Derege,
I have to tell a very old story. My father, P.C. Menon, who was from India, was teacher & also parttime Professor with the Ethiopian Ministry of Education & also University teaching Economic & Political Science for abt 22 years from 1963 to 1985. (He was in Harar, Dire Dwa and finally in Addis) Demissie Bulto Uncle was his student and Demissie Uncle sometimes used to come to our house in Dire Dawa for his coaching or practice exams for his Higher Studies. The story is almost 40 odd years old - I was a small boy. I am 51 now. Uncle was a young officer at that time. I have seen Uncle in his Uniform only and whenever he came home, his 2 pockets would be filled with choclates for us. He used to play with us (Me & my 3 younger sisters). Even as a young officer he was brave & dashing. I still remember, once in our house one robber/miscreant had entered and quite accidently Uncle also came at the same time.. When we told him about this guy, he literally 'broke' the guy's bones.
All os us are married and settled and have grown up kids now. I am currently in my home country, India, now. Both my parents are no more. Ages have passed by but even now when we see somebody in 'Military Uniform' we still say that he resemebles 'our Demissie Uncle'. I came across Uncle's name through Google
while surfing the net.
Let God bless you and yr family.
Prfound Regards / Rajan Menon

Dear Ato Derege :

The story is very old. My father P.C.Menon, was a teacher in Harar, Dire Dawa and finally he taught in Addis Ababa Junior Com. College. He served the Education Dept from 1963 to 1985 (22 years). He also used to teach part-time (Politial Science & Economics) at University and also at Harar Military Academy. Most of his stay, say for about 15 years, he was in Harar & Dire Dawa. Only for about 7-8 yrs he was at Addis.
I remember Bulto Uncle as a small boy when he used to come to our house for coaching classes or sometimes for his Higher Education practice exams as he was Daddy's student at the Univiersity or Military Academy. (I exactly dn't remember) I have always seen him in Uniform only and used to be very jolly and jovial with us kids (WE are 4 - myself + my three younger sisters). Daddy used to announce that Bulto Uncle is coming home in the evening - and we all used to wait eagerly for his arrival. Both his pockets used to be full of choclates. One or two of his military colleagues also used to attend. It has been long, long time - almost 40 years ago. My father left Ethiopia for good in 1985 and since then we do not have any direct links except through some of Daddy's Indian friends. Bot my parents are no more now. I am 51 yrs old now. I was working in Dubai for almost 15 years and since then returned to India and currently in Mumbai. Two of my sisters are still continuing in Dubai. All of us are married and have grown up kids now. Whenever we talk of Ethiopia, Uncle's name used to crop up.
I do not know about Unlcle's professional work - it did not matter for us. It is nice to know a book has ben written by you and released. It is realy nice of you and I and my family join you in this moment of joy. I was surfing the net when I suddenly came across Uncle's name in Google. Pls convey my best regards to yr Mummy and other family members.
With profound regards / Rajan Menon

Dear Sir,

You did a great job, Gen. Demssie should be proud of you. I couldn't put down the book. Though we lost the war in Eritrea no doubt your father's and his comrades action was decisive in shortening the agony, misery and death of our people in that senseless conflict. The greatest lesson from the book: a coward is one who is not ready to die for his conviction. It would have been great if your dad got out for his own and his family's sake, but one day History will honour him for his heroic decision.

This book is a great contribution to Ethiopia's historical record and should be read by all who love their country.

Rebi sifakenu goftako::
May God bless you and the soul of your father.
